Sechs Performer*innen stellen sich allgegenwärtigen autoritären Mustern. Den kleinen alltäglichen Gesten am umkämpften Gartenzaun und den globalen Bewegungen an territorialen Grenzen. Ihre Körper werden zum Protest, ihre Stimme zum Instrument gegen Kontrollfetisch, gegen die Besetzung freier Räume und gegen die Macht des Stärkeren.
Wie kann Selbstbehauptung in Zeiten kolonialer Fantasien und Machtmissbrauch gelingen? Choreografin Stephanie Thiersch lotet seit vielen Jahren in ihren Arbeiten die Grenzgebiete zwischen Choreografie, Konzert, Musiktheater und Installation aus. In ANGELS OF ANARCHY zeigt sie mit einer Melange aus Neuer Musik, Spoken Word und House Dance wie Widerstand entstehen kann. Begleitet von Geschichten aus Vorstadtgärten der österreichischen Schriftstellerin Kathrin Röggla, Polyrhythmen, Afrobeats und Kehlkopfgesängen des*der südafrikanischen Komponist*in und Heiler*in Monthati Masebe sprengt sie mit ihrer Kompanie MOUVOIR und ANGELS OF ANARCHY erneut Genres.
Die international agierende deutsche Choreografin und Regisseurin Stephanie Thiersch gehört zu den Vielseitigsten ihres Fachs in Europa. Seit 2000 ist sie künstlerische Leiterin der Kompanie MOUVOIR und kreierte über 50 Bühnenproduktionen und Filme. Regelmäßig experimentiert sie mit innovativem Einsatz von Musik, ob Ensemble für Neue Musik, DJ, Streichquartett, Orchester oder traditionelle Vokalmusik. Sie forscht zwischen den Disziplinen an Gastgeberschaft als künstlerische Methode und an der Entwicklung choreografisch-musikalischer Partituren. Thierschs Arbeiten werden international koproduziert und gezeigt, zuletzt u. a. Nationaloper Athen, Ruhrtriennale, Beethovenfest, Philharmonie Köln, Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus, Seoul Arts Center, Staatstheater Wiesbaden, Théâtre de Nîmes, Panorama Festival Rio de Janeiro, Fabbrica Europa Florenz, Ranga Shankara, Bangalore. Six performers confront ubiquitous authoritarian patterns. The small, everyday gestures at the contested picket fences as well as the global movements along territorial boundaries. Their bodies become protest, their voices become instruments against the control fetish, against the occupation of free spaces, and against the power of the strongest.
How can self-assertion succeed in times of colonial fantasies and abuse of power? Choreographer Stephanie Thiersch has been probing the boundaries between choreography, concert, musical theatre and installation in her works. In ANGELS OF ANARCHY, in a blend of new music, spoken word and house dance, she shows how resistance can emerge. Accompanied by Austrian author Kathrin Röggla’s stories from suburban lawns, polyrhythms, Afrobeats and South African composer and healer Monthati Masebe’s throat singing, she and her company MOUVOIR again blast away genres in ANGELS OF ANARCHY.
Internationally active German choreographer and director Stephanie Thiersch is among the most versatile in her discipline in Europe. She has served as the artistic director of the MOUVOIR company since 2000, creating more than 50 stage productions and films.
