Ariel Efraim Ashbel schafft mit Sukkot: hosting the hosts über fünf Tage eine Performance als inklusives, lebendiges Ritual.
Sukkot ist der dritte Feiertag im jüdischen Kalender und bezeichnet zugleich auch die Mehrzahl von „Sukkah“ – einem Zelt oder einer anderen Behausung, die sich in mythischen Erzählungen oft auf die Hütten beziehen, in denen die Israelit*innen nach dem Auszug aus Ägypten in der Wüste schliefen.
Zur wichtigsten Tradition des Festes zählt das Gastgeben: Eine Sukkah wird für eine Woche zum Lebensmittelpunkt für Bewohner*innen und eingeladene Gäste oder Fremde. Für die Performance lädt Ariel Efraim Ashbel verschiedene Gastgeber*innen in eine Sukkah in den Festsaal ein, um den Ort zum Schauplatz für Wissenaustausch, Gespräch, Workshop, Konzert oder Party zu machen.

With Sukkot: hosting the hosts, Ariel Efraim Ashbel creates a performance as an inclusive, living ritual over five days in the Sophiensæle Festsaal.
Sukkot is the third holiday in the Jewish calendar and also refers to the plural form of Sukkah – a tent or another temporary dwelling, which in mythical narratives often alludes to the huts where the Israelites slept during their journey through the desert after departing from Egypt.
The main tradition of this holiday is hosting: a Sukkah becomes the center of life for a week, shared with residents, invited guests, and strangers. For this performance, Ariel Efraim Ashbel invites various hosts into a Sukkah built inside the Festsaal, transforming the space into a site for knowledge exchange, conversation, workshops, concerts and parties.
